Like Bush, and to the delight of the religious extremists, Palin is anti-choice and anti-science, and supports abstinence-only sex education, which has proven to be a dismal failure. In many ways, they seem like America's answer to the Taliban -- trying to legislate "morality" and stifle all social progress. The last thing we need is a Supreme Court with new justices appointed by a president with this repressive and backward mindset.

"We've picked bad presidents before, and we've survived as a nation. But we will not survive if we lose the institution of marriage."

Got that? Gutting the Constitution, breaking the military, crashing the economy, and making the world hate us, no biggie. But letting gays get married, that's the end of the world.

Prop 8 won't just stop gays from getting married in California, it'll nullify all existing gay marriages. Because nothing will preserve the sacred institution of marriage like suddenly dissolving a whole bunch of 'em.

Is Dr. Dobson Really A "Man Of God"?

It's interesting that Dr. James Dobson (and what exactly is he a doctor of, anyway?) is so busy "defending" marriage that he fails to realize that marriage alone is not the sole reason for the existence of the nation and of civilization itself.

Yes, marriage and the family play a vital role in the life of a nation and civilization, but if the nation is unable to provide the means by which marriages and families can flourish and become healthy, then "defending" marriage won't be of much good if our economy has been completely destroyed, police-state tactics of control and domination through terror are allowed to run roughshod over the nation's citizens, our military is stretched so thin that it can't do an effective job, our Constitution is nullified to the point of uselessness and the world would love nothing more than to see that "rogue nation" called America vanish from the face of the earth.

A true "man of God" would possess enough love of mankind within himself to not only defend marriage, but also those things which promote and encourage a healthy nation-state, which in turn, helps create the kind of positive social/economic/political atmosphere necessary to create, cultivate and maintain healthy marriages and stable, successful families.

He would also realize that the biggest threat to marriage isn't whether gay people get married or not, but a collapsing economy which wipes out a dignified standard of living which causes marriages to crumble and families to collapse into chaos and confusion, which makes me wonder what kind of "God" Dr. Dobson's actually serving...

GOP leader: Rebuild party based on 'sanctity of marriage'

When asked by Chris Wallace what "conservative solutions" the GOP would bring to their current minority-party status, Pence said social issues like "the sanctity of marriage" will remain the backbone of the Republican platform.

"You build those conservative solutions, Chris, on the same time-honored principles of limited government, a belief in free markets, in the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage," Pence said.

The Indiana representative cited the ballot measures against gay marriage that passed on Election Day as evidence of the continuing presence of conservative values.

"There were three state referendums on marriage ... all three carried. The vitality of the conservative movement around the country is very real," said Pence.

Pence is set for the No. 3 spot among Republicans in the House of Representatives, while Rep. Eric Cantor is generally viewed as the heir to the No. 2 position.

GINGRICH: Look, I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion. And I think if you believe in historic Christianity, you have to confront the fact. And, frank -- for that matter, if you believe in the historic version of Islam or the historic version of Judaism, you have to confront the reality that these secular extremists are determined to impose on you acceptance of a series of values that are antithetical, they're the opposite, of what you're taught in Sunday school.

Gingrich thinks gay marriage is a very dangerous threat to traditional religion. Can he tell me how they are dangerous? Just because he doesn't believe in it doesn't mean it will hurt anyone. This is ignorance. The right needs an issue to motivate their base, but this lack of freedom for the gay community actually hurts their lives on a daily basis where as in the religious community it hurts no one. Are they honestly afraid that their kids will go gay or something? I know what James Dobson thinks:

"They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth."

That is pure lunacy as we know. All gays want to do is part of that institution and have the same rights as all Americans do.
